UV resins

BOSIG-Lux resins are hardened by radiation and are used for industrial wood and furniture applications as well as for coating of metals as well as in the printing ink industry for coating plastic foil and paper. We manufacture different types of UV resins based on polyester, acrylate and epoxy resin. The coatings are hard, scratch resistant and highly resistant to chemicals.

Polyester resins

BOSIG-Pol polyester resins are a component of clear and of pigmented varnishes. The varnishes are used as coating material for wood. They are also used for surfaces that can be ground and polished and find application as air- and oven-drying varnishes in industry, for plastics, furniture and parquets. They are furthermore used for baked enamel coatings or as elasticisers for some varnish systems. The polyesters in our programme find preferred use in high solids content 2-component PUR coatings, casting compounds and simple 2-component PUR varnishes. The addition of solvent-free polyesters to other compatible systems has little effect on their basic properties, but higher pigment concentrations are achievable than with conventional resins. Systems with increased solids content can be produced in combination with alkyd resins, which must comply with the VOC Directive.

Modified alkyd resins

BOSIG-Mod are modified alkyd resins (see BOSIG-Kyd) which are cross-linked with styrol, vinyl toluol or isocyanates, depending on application type. Alkyd resin modified with styrol and vinyl toluol is excellently suited for fast drying primers and top coat varnishes (dry to the touch in minutes), with good resistance to water and chemicals. The alkyd resins cross-linked with isocyanates, the so-called urethane resins, are used for the manufacture of fast drying, weather-proof varnishes and corrosion systems and for parquet and wood sealing varnishes.

Alkyd resins

BOSIG-Kyd are alkyd resins which, modified with fatty acids/oils, are produced by esterification of multivalent alcohols with polybasic carboxylic acid. Alkyd resins serve as raw material for varnishes, especially as coating on domestic appliances, kitchen facilities and automats, and are furthermore processed into insulating compounds and adhesives. The classification of alkyd resins is determined primarily by the oils used, i.e. the fatty acids and their percentage share in each case. A distinction is made between short oil, medium oil and long oil alkyd resins. There are furthermore many modification options, e.g. by chemically inserting other components (see BOSIG-Mod) such as natural resins, phenolic resins, acrylic, epoxy, silicone compounds, styroles and isocyanates. The short oil alkyd resins are used as binding agents for baked enamels, the medium oil resins for air and heat drying industrial varnishes and the long oil types are used by painters, for industrial and corrosion protection paints.

Acrylic resins

BOSIG-Tex acrylic resins are air drying or heat-curing synthetic resins produced by homo- or copolymerisation of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid esters. Air drying, solvent-containing acrylic resins are used as binding agents for industrial coatings and façade paints. Heat curing acrylic resins are components of binders in baked enamels for metal and plastic surfaces. Apart from conventional systems, high solids are becoming increasingly important - due to the VOC Directive. Acrylic resins are used as lacquers in industry, for new vehicles and vehicle repair and also as paints for plastic, furniture, utility vehicles and machines, including aerosols, road marking paints, in building applications or for electro-immersion painting. The hydroxyl acrylates are a special case since they may be used as 2-component systems together with isocyanates due to their free OH groups.
