Winflex® Cover – the weather protection membrane

Winflex® Cover – the weather protection membrane

Characteristics

Winflex® Cover is transparent, fully self-adhesive, airtight and watertight, vapour-permeable, robust and abrasion-resistant. The sealing membrane is designed to provide weather protection for building components, especially timber ceilings and partition walls, during transport, installation and throughout the construction phase.

Winflex® Cover protects components made of solid wood and engineered wood products, as well as plasterboard, gypsum fibre boards or concrete, from harmful weather influences. Winflex® Cover can be used in both interior and exterior applications.

The system was specially developed to protect timber structures and timber buildings. It can be fully pre-installed/applied in the factory and thus reliably protects components from rain, moisture and UV radiation during transport, installation and the construction phase. After installation, Winflex® Cover can remain permanently within the building structure.

Customer benefits

Winflex® Cover offers the following advantages:

  • Transparent: the substrate, including markings and any gaps, remains visible
  • Suitable for pre-installation – can be applied in the factory prior to transport and on-site installation
  • Practical markings enable precise positioning during installation of individual sheets and sections
  • High adhesive strength
  • Weather-resistant and highly tear-resistant
  • Protects building components from weather influences, dirt and dust, as well as mechanical impact
  • Robust and abrasion-resistant, walkable and drivable
  • Vapour-permeable and airtight as well as watertight

Field of application

As a vapour control layer for timber construction, the product is designed to be relatively vapour-permeable. Wood has the natural ability to absorb and release moisture – and to do so in all directions. Due to this high diffusion capacity, timber structures do not require vapour control layers with high sd values. The applied layer is watertight while simultaneously regulating moisture exchange without hindering the natural diffusion process of the wood.

In addition, the system can be used as an airtightness layer and moisture protection – both on walls and in prefabricated components for roof build-ups / roof structures with rafter systems, ridge purlins, counter battens and cross battens. It is weather-resistant, watertight and airtight as well as vapour-permeable, allowing the vapour control layer and airtightness layer to remain permanently within the building structure.

Product Information

Three-layer structure

The three-layer structure is manufactured entirely in-house to ensure consistently high quality control. The central layer consists of a fleece, which is enclosed on both sides by robust sealing and protective films.
On one side of the film, a self-adhesive (SA) adhesive is precisely applied, while the opposite side remains free and serves as a watertight surface.

The SA strip is positioned with a high degree of accuracy. This ensures clean, well-defined edges that are fully protected. The self-adhesive coating with a siliconised release liner simplifies handling and ensures a clean, installation-friendly result.
